I like that they are better for the environment and wildlife! So far they are working out great. Good value for the money.Trying to use biodegradable plastic bags, which I hope these are. Only trouble is they are pretty weak. I will still use and buy more, just not impresses. These bags are not sturdy or strong at all, I always have to double bag the recyclables or trash, no matter how light in weight they are. I am also using these bags for bagging items going into storage bins, ok for that. Not worth the price. This is an addition to my original review. As that review says, the bags' strength and leak resistance are acceptable, but I don't know if they are really compostable. College Park, MD, where I live, recently instituted curbside collection of food scraps. They require that the scraps be in a compostable bag meeting standards ASTM D6400 or ASTM D6868. I don't see any mention of standards compliance in the description of the Techshare bags. Amazon does offer some bags meeting those standards. For my purposes these bags work as well as conventional plastic garbage bags. They are strong and, so far, leak-proof. I have just ordered my second package of them. At first I was worried that they would "biodegrade" too soon, since I throw food scraps, coffee grounds, and other damp, messy stuff into the kitchen trash. But that has not happened. They're expensive, of course, but my municipality makes recycling very easy, so there's not much garbage anymore and I don't use many of these bags. (Once I get it together to start using the city's composting service I'll be using even fewer!) One thing I wonder about, though -- Do they really biodegrade? If you're planning to use this as a replacement for the standard kitchen trash bag, I wouldn't recommend it. I just used my first one. The bag ripped a few times and there wasn't enough room slack at the top to tie the trash bag. I gave it two stars because I like the fact that they are biodegradable. But I've had others that were better. They are definitely on the small size for '13 gal'. Avoid putting anything with an edge, corner, point, seam, or is rigid, semi-rigid, or was rigid at one time into them; they rip unnecessarily easy. You give it a dirty look and all of a sudden your recycling is all over the kitchen floor. Love that they are better (won't go so far as to say 'good') for the environment, but man industry needs to step it up in the fight to "Save the Planet" arena. I mean we can put 54 billion transistors on a single computer chip, we can clone sheep and ferrets and children, billionaires can have a space-age d**k measuring contest in low earth orbit, yet we can't make a decent biodegradable kitchen trash can liner?! Sorry polar ice caps, and what's left of the polar bears, science is just so hard! And plastic is lucrative.Edit: Typos correctedMy Hefty 13 gal trash can is 10" x 17". These bags BARELY fit, and tear about 1 out of 3 times. At least.I use masking tape to secure the torn edges to the trash bin. It works.I have NOT had any problem with the bottom breaking through while in use or even on the walk out to the trash.I DO compost so I my trash is not wet and is only moderately heavy.I would love to find a brand that does not tear. I might repurchase if I cannot find something slightly larger.
